Analysis

The Webb Surname DNA Project uses Family Tree DNA guidelines for determining potential relationships between participants. These guidelines are based on genetic distance in relation to the number of markers tested. The more markers tested, the more accurate a determination can be made for the potential of a genetic match.

Interpreting Genetic Distance - Y-DNA12

Interpreting Genetic Distance - Y-DNA25

Interpreting Genetic Distance - Y-DNA37

Interpreting Genetic Distance - Y-DNA67

Interpreting Genetic Distance - Y-DNA111

Genetic distance guidelines are also followed for 12-marker test, but over time it has been found that there is a higher potential for an incorrect match. In some cases a match to two or more Webb groups has occurred.  We strongly recommend that our participants utilize the 37 or 67 marker test to assure a more statistically sound match.
